I call it “Meet The Team“. This plugin make use of WordPress user profiles, and display its output by a simple shortcode, so basically you can display it on any page, post, or theme template, just about anywhere on your site.

Meet The Team plugin is using the uSquare – Universal responsive grid html5/jquery to get its awesome display, it also has options to change colors and decide how many items to display in each row.

Hey all. Finally -and officially- I can say that ThesisAwesome.com runs on the amazing Thesis version 2.0, and I admit it, I had a lot of fun working on this site for the first time since I’ve created it more than two years ago.

The very first time I designed ThesisAwesome.com, it was run by Thesis 1.8, then it went though all Thesis Theme versions ending with 1.8.5 which is one of the best releases in my opinion.

The thing here is I made this site with big effort and I had to put a lot of hours, and it was really hard to add a new product because I needed to design a page for each product, then update a few other areas on the site, like the skins gallery, download pages and other private areas, and mostly I had to add extra styles and a little function or two to the site to put things to work as required. So, it wasn’t fun at all.

Thesis 2.0 and Site Makeup

This time and after the release of Thesis version 2.0, I decided to do run this site on Thesis 2.0, and do some site makeup.

I can say that thing went great, and now ThesisAwesome.com runs smoothly on Thesis 2.0, it even has its own custom designed Skin.

Needless to say, the site perform and loads way faster than it was before, really loving this.

What about Boxes?

Custom Post Types for product pages

One cool idea I had in mind was to setup custom post types for the product pages, so I decided to go with Types and Views plugins!

Amazingly and “quickly” I was able to redesign the whole Skins Gallery page, plus adding custom post types for the sales pages and product details, even the private download area of the site was created in a few minutes via a view template.

From now on -and thanks to these awesome Types and Views- I am able to add and list my new products in only a few minutes, I don’t have to code anything in the site backend, not anymore. All sales pages and its elements (for example: images, thumbnails, demo links, signup links, etc.) are added via a meta box that is generated by the Types plugin, and I am able to display data over and over in several different ways across the site.

Seriously, you should consider Types, it’s actually one awesome free plugin.

More Skins, Boxes and cool stuff in the Kitchen

I am working to release the new version of the BlogSkin 2.0 in the coming a few days, hopefully there will be no delay. So, keep yourself around.

Yet, another content slider has been added to our Free Download Center, it’s a simple parallax content slider that use CSS animations, and allow you to display your recent posts, or you can chose to display content from a specific category. The slider create a parallax effect by animating the main background of the slider itself, which looks pretty awesome.

This Box was written upon the code of the Category Posts Slider Box by Matt Hodder.

The Design was made upon the Manoella Ilic, you can see the simple JQuery and CSS version here.

How to install the Parallax Content Slider Box

• Log into WordPress and navigate to your Thesis admin page
• Click Select Boxes from the menu
• Upload the .zip file
• Check the box beside Parallax Slider, and click on Save Boxes

Once you are done with the installation steps above, a new Box will show in your Thesis Skin Editor.

Display the slider

You can easily drop the content slider Box anywhere you want it to show, I prefer it in the main Body container, right after the Header container, it will look amazing especially if you have a full width layout. However, you can just drop it where you want, for example on the top of Content container.

This is the first drop of Thesis 2.0 Skins, expect a rain of new Skins at any time. I am proud to release my first Thesis 2.0 Skin in the Free Download Center. Yes, it’s a Free Skin.

I call it the Legendary Skin.

This is a pretty simple skin that I’ve created from scratch using Thesis Skin Editor, it was based on the Blank Skin that comes with Thesis 2. And it’s a living proof that the new version of Thesis is pretty easy to use, however it’s confusing if you are looking to it for the first time.

As you may know, Thesis 2.0 has been released this week, and great things are going in the Thesis Theme development.

The most interesting thing here is that Thesis 2.0 is totally different than the older release 1.x, it’s a whole new theme framework for WordPress. Thesis 2.0 introduced Boxes and Packages, plus a new way to create Skins.

I am so excited to announce my first free Thesis Box!

it’s the Author Info Box that you can download for free inside our Free download center.

Author Info Box

Once you download the Author Bio Box, you can then install it within your Thesis 2.0 admin page, under the Boxes tab.

The Box do three main tasks:

• Add custom profile fields in user profile
• Display author info box at the end of every single post
• Display the author info box anywhere in your layout via the Thesis Skin visual editor

How to install the Author Info Box

• log into WordPress and navigate to your Thesis admin page
• Click Select Boxes from the menu
• Upload the .zip file
• Check the box beside Author Info, and click on Save Boxes

Once you are done with the installation steps above, you will see new WordPress custom fields in user profile, by filling out these fields you are allowing the plugin to display the info on the box:

You will notice also that the Author Info Box shows under every single post on the blog:

Now! On any page or posts on your site, you can hit the “Click to Edit” button to fire Thesis Skin Editor, simply display Shift + Drag and Drop the Author Info Box where you want it to show. (I recommend using this in a container, maybe display it on the sidebar area):

I think there will be a beta version once Thesis 2.0 comes to the light, so… A very important thing to pay attention to when you get your hands on Thesis 2.0 is to test it out first on your test site, don’t install it on your live blog unless you really sure things will go well.

Should I upgrade to Thesis 2.0 ?

I will be working on upgrading all the skins to work nicely with Thesis 2.0, however I am not sure yet if the upgrade process will be straight forward. So again, please give it sometime, try to test it out, don’t rush with the upgrade till I give you the green light.

Here is how to upgrade to Thesis 1.8.5

If you are using any of our skins or using Thesis Theme in general, then follow these simple steps to upgrade to the latest version 1.8.5:

Note: Before you start, make sure you backup your old files and database.

1- Upload Thesis 1.8.5 to your Themes folder

Let’s start with uploading Thesis 1.8.5 folder to your Themes folder.

2- Upload your old /custom/ folder inside Thesis 1.8.5 folder

In this step you will simply upload all the content of your old /custom/ folder.

4- Change file permissions as stated in the Thesis installation guide

You are done!

Notes:

• If you are using WordPress menus, then probably you will notice your menu has gone, simply go to WP menus and assign your menu again.
• Make sure to clear any cache plugin and browser cache when you finish the installation.
